Introducing Finance and Accounting

Course Description: The aim of this workshop is to focus on the principles and practicalities of accounting.

Target Group: Small business managers and those who have had no experience of accounting but need to know what their accountants know!

Duration: This is normally an "in-house" 2 day course but can be tailored for your company as a 1 day programme or extended to meet the specific needs of your organisation.

Content :  The language of accounting - Getting organised! - Key principles of accounting  - Sources of Capital  - The Accounting records - the books of "Prime Entry"  - The General / Nominal Ledger - Hands-on Book-keeping - The Trial Balance - Putting together the Balance Sheet and the Profit and Loss Statement - Managing Working Capital - Cash Flows and Budgeting - Breaking Even for survival and for profit - Handling Tax, VAT and the IR35 - The law and the small business manager - Business Support .

Style: We encourage delegate participation and teamwork, use "real-life" case studies (which, if you wish, can be centred on your organisation) and aim to have fun!
