Budgeting for Business Managers
Course Description: The aim of this workshop is to build skills and knowledge of budgeting principles and methods.
Target Group: The course is focused on non-budget holders who need to know how budgeting works as well as budget holders who want to (or need to!) exhance their competence. A basic knowledge of financial management and accounting will enable delegates to gain most from this course.
If you need to brush up your financial and accounting skills before coming on this programme then you are welcome to join either the "Financial Management for Non Financial Managers" workshop or the "Introducing Financial Management and Accounting".

Duration: The Budgeting for Business Managers workshop is normally an "in-house" 2 day course but can be tailored for your company as a 1 day programme or extended to meet the specific needs of your organisation.
Content: Key principles of effective budgeting - departmental budgeting - revenue and cost budgets in action (fixed, zero and flexible budgeting) - focusing on costs (allocation, apportionment and absorption) - budgeting to break-even - monitoring actual vs. budget performance - variance reporting - regression vs. probability forecasting - capital investment (cost of capital, internal rate of return, net present value, discounted cash flow - the master budget - cash budgeting vs. P & L budgeting.
Style: We encourage delegate participation and teamwork, use "real-life" case studies (which, if you wish, can be centred on your organisation) and aim to have fun!
